Dance is an integral part of musical theatre and our time table represents that at MPC. You will develop your competence and confidence in jazz, ballet, tap and contemporary. Every day starts with a physical warm up and fitness class before you participate in your technical dance classes. You will also develop your understanding of the human body so you can express yourself freely and creatively.
At MPC we understand the importance of bespoke one-to-one singing and repertoire tuition. Weekly private singing lessons ensure that you can produce a well-placed, consistent sound throughout the vocal range without a noticeable break between registers. Ensemble singing lessons provide a varied collection of songs from musical theatre and contemporary repertoires whilst refining your ability to blend, harmonise and follow a Musical Director.
Acting classes enable you to develop your skills to their full potential. All Acting classes whilst at MPC are underpinned by the teachings of Uta Hagen, and will teach you how to create and portray characters through playing ‘action’. You will develop confidence in using a range of acting styles and increase your understanding of theatrical texts.
This course element provides the essential musical theatre background to enable you to become an informed and knowledgeable performer.
As a preparation for their second year, first year students work on a project which is presented before an invited audience at the end of the summer term.
Musical Theatre classes operate on a scene study basis whilst with us. You will study musicals through the History of Broadway. It will allow you to explore the relationship of acting through song and dance; and allows you to refine your skills of the transition between text and song.
MPC showcases each student before Auditioning for London Schools this allows you to have reached performance level with all your audition materials (monologues, solo dances and song choices).
